Baseball Recap: Belvidere North Takes a Loss

Belvidere North dropped their record down to 10-10 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They lost 11-0 to the Boylan Catholic Titans. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Blue Thunder have suffered since April 11th.

As for Boylan Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-14-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games.

For Boylan Catholic's part, Aidan Baluch tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Baluch has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Boylan Catholic let Ryder McCauley and Henry Berg run wild. McCauley got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs, while Berg went 1-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Boylan Catholic is 3-1 when McCauley posts two or more stolen bases, but 9-13-1 otherwise. Michael Davenport was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

While Belvidere North had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
