Espanola Valley is 9-1 against Pojoaque Valley since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Espanola Valley Sundevils will face off against the Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes at 6:30 p.m. Espanola Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Pojoaque Valley likes a good challenge.

Espanola Valley is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Santa Fe, who was ranked 18th at the time (Espanola Valley was ranked 14th). Espanola Valley fell just short of Santa Fe by a score of 69-66 on Thursday. The Sundevils' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Pojoaque Valley was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 55-49 to St. Michael's. While the Elks/Elkettes didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Horsemen 13-7 in the first quarter.

Espanola Valley's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-4. As for Pojoaque Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.

Espanola Valley barely slipped by Pojoaque Valley when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 58-57. Will Espanola Valley repeat their success, or does Pojoaque Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
