Softball Game Preview: Red Bank Regional Bucs vs. Neptune Scarlet Fliers

Red Bank Regional is 9-1 against Neptune since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Bucs will welcome the Scarlet Fliers at 10:00 a.m. One thing working in Red Bank Regional's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.

Red Bank Regional is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 21-1 margin over Long Branch on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Bucs in their matchups with the Green Wave: they've now won five in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Neptune, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They put the hurt on Keyport with a sharp 21-11 victory on Wednesday. With that win, the Scarlet Fliers brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

Kadidja Braxton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Gianna Massimino was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Ja'Nyah Harris was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Neptune's victory bumped their record up to 3-7-1. As for Red Bank Regional, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
