Softball Recap: Benet Academy Comes Up Short

Benet Academy lost against Yorkville back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Redwings fell just short of the Foxes by a score of 4-3. The Redwings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sophia Rosner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Alaina Rosner made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Benet Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Yorkville, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4.

Looking ahead, Benet Academy will head out to square off against Marist at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The RedHawks' pitching crew has only allowed 1.3 runs per game this season, so the Redwings' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Yorkville, they will face off against Bolingbrook at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something the Foxes will no doubt try to take advantage of.
