Softball Recap: Cedar Bluff Triumphs

Cedar Bluff had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Gaylesville on Thursday. The Cedar Bluff Tigers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Gaylesville Trojans a 12-0 shutout. With that victory, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 7.5 runs per game.

Kyriah Vadon made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Vadon was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ciana Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Kylie Vadon also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

The win got Cedar Bluff back to even at 2-2. As for Gaylesville, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Cedar Bluff Tigers take on Collinsville Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Gaylesville, they will head out to challenge Westbrook Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
