Football Recap: Berkmar Patriots vs. Duluth Wildcats

Berkmar's last matchup with Duluth could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Friday. The Patriots had to suffer through a 54-7 loss at the hands of the Wildcats. The Patriots have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Berkmar still got an impressive performance from Davian Johnson, who rushed for 68 yards on only six carries, and also threw for 91 yards and one TD.

Shamar Banner had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 262 yards and six touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes for Duluth. Banner's passing game has become a key predictor of the Wildcats' success: the team is 3-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. A healthy portion of Banner's aerial production (91 yards to be exact) went to DeTwann Collins, who also brought in three receiving touchdowns.

Berkmar's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Duluth, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Berkmar and Duluth will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Patriots see the field they'll take on Norcross at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. As for Duluth, their break will end when they face Parkview at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
