Softball Game Preview: East Brunswick Bears vs. Monroe Township Falcons

The East Brunswick Bears will take on the Monroe Township Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. East Brunswick is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

East Brunswick will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Spotswood, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Bears came out on top against the Chargers by a score of 5-1 on Monday.

Meanwhile, Monroe Township never let their opponents score on Monday. They put the hurt on Nottingham with a sharp 6-0 win. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Monica Bukowczyk made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Brielle Zarsky was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Brianna Bukowczyk, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Monroe Township is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for East Brunswick, their win bumped their record up to 18-2.

East Brunswick skirted past Monroe Township 7-6 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
