Soccer Game Preview: Otay Ranch vs. Eastlake

Otay Ranch hasn't had much luck against Eastlake recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Otay Ranch Mustangs will look to defend their home pitch against the Eastlake Titans at 6:00 p.m. Otay Ranch's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

If Eastlake heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Otay Ranch took over last week. Otay Ranch narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Steele Canyon 2-1.

Maleah Rodriguez and Abby Kessler scored both of Otay Ranch's goals, bringing their combined season tally to five goals.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Eastlake, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top against Coronado by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Islanders are ranked 608th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Eastlake's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2-3. As for Otay Ranch, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1-3.
