Cordova took care of business in their home opener (barely) on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Oakman Wildcats 7-6. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Cordova got a great performance from Jordan Gant as he didn't allow a single earned run and only a hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Gant a new career-high.

At the plate, Daniel Jackson was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, he also posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Caleb Kilpatrick, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Oakman's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cordova is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season. they will face off against Corner at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oakman, they will take on Holly Pond at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
