Basketball Recap: Columbian Falls Short of Ashland in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Columbian can now relate to. They came up short against the Ashland Arrows on Wednesday, falling 55-32. While losing is never fun, the Tornadoes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the Arrows are ranked 98th).

Ashland found their leader in sophomore Kennedy Lacey, who went 9-for-16 to rack up 23 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lacey has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Tobias, who posted nine points.

Columbian's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Ashland, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

Columbian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ashland, they will take on Norwalk at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
