Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Pike couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 45-44 to the Lawrence North Wildcats. The Red Devils' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Several Red Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alonna Divine, who posted 12 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Divine has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Saniya Smith, who scored nine points.

Lawrence North's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kya Hurt led the charge by going 6-for-10 en route to 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamaya Thomas, who went 6-for-9 on her way to 15 points.

Pike's loss dropped their record down to 20-7. As for Lawrence North, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 18-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lawrence North beat Pike by a score of 45-44 later that day.
