Baseball Game Preview: Bruton Panthers vs. Jamestown Eagles

Bruton is 0-10 against Jamestown since May of 2017 but things could change on Wednesday. The Panthers will head out to face off against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Bruton is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past West Point 15-3 on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Bruton let Ty Yates and William Muller run wild. Yates scored two runs while going 4-for-4, while Muller scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Yates has become a key player for Bruton: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-5 otherwise. Landon Middlebrook was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Jamestown was able to grind out a solid win over Essex on Monday, taking the game 7-4. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won four in a row.

The win made it two in a row for Bruton and bumps their season record up to 3-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Jamestown, their record now sits at 3-4.

Bruton suffered a grim 9-3 defeat to Jamestown in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
