Basketball Game Preview: Jeffersonville Red Devils vs. New Albany Bulldogs

The Jeffersonville Red Devils will face off against the New Albany Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Saturday, Jeffersonville was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 70-64 to Lawrence North. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while the Wildcats are ranked fifth).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Michael Cooper, who went 8 of 17 on his way to 21 points and five steals. The matchup was his sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tre Singleton, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 15 points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask New Albany). They enjoyed a cozy 94-75 victory over DuPont Manual on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Jeffersonville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for New Albany, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Jeffersonville strolled past New Albany in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a score of 75-58. Will Jeffersonville repeat their success, or does New Albany have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
