Baseball Recap: Arlington Comes Up Short

Arlington had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 5-7 to make it four. They fell just short of the Douglas County West Falcon by a score of 1-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcon this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 last Tuesday.

Jackson Stosich spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks.

As for Douglas County West, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-8. That's two games straight that they have won by just one run.

On Douglas County West's side, Arlington's batters probably weren't too happy with Luke Thimmesch, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 11 Ks (he gave up three walks).

At the plate, Douglas County West's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Schuiteman, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases. The Falcon are 4-1 when Schuiteman posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-7 otherwise.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Arlington is set to take on their familiar foe Fort Calhoun at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Douglas County West will challenge rival Concordia/Brownell/Omaha Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
