Basketball Recap: Saint Viator Has No Trouble Against Joliet Catholic

Saint Viator's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 54-34 margin over the Joliet Catholic Hilltoppers. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 20 points or more this season.

Saint Viator found their leader in freshman Ava Garcia, who went 10 for 16 en route to 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Garcia has scored all season. Bella Gounaris was another key player, putting up eight points and six rebounds.

Saint Viator is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.5 points per game. As for Joliet Catholic, they dropped their record down to 6-19 with the loss, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.

Saint Viator will challenge Carmel at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Joliet Catholic, they will face off against Marian Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
