Softball Recap: Ten Straight Home Wins for Mcewen

McEwen hadn't done well against Houston County recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Warriors came out on top against the Fighting Irish by a score of 7-3. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Fighting Irish: they've now won three in a row.

Ava Lastovka spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Audrey Dotson was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tylee Tummins, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

McEwen was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

McEwen pushed their record up to 15-5 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Houston County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.
