Basketball Recap: Cyprus Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Paden Sharp and Beckham Bayles

Cyprus lost against Juan Diego Catholic back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cyprus Pirates fell 49-36 to the Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle. The match marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Beckham Bayles and Paden Sharp certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Bayles went 6 for 15 en route to 12 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds, while Sharp posted 11 points. Kayson Mayo also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Juan Diego Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Stockton Young, who earned 12 points. Another player making a difference was Luke Meyer, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 12 points and six boards.

Cyprus' loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-6. As for Juan Diego Catholic, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-5.

Cyprus will welcome Granger at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cyprus is facing Granger at the right time seeing as Granger is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Juan Diego Catholic, they will venture away from home to challenge Hunter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Hunter's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games.
