Baseball Game Preview: Nicolet Knights vs. West Bend West Spartans

Nicolet is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Monday. They will head out to face off against the West Bend West Spartans at 4:45 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Saturday just wasn't the day for Nicolet's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Waukesha North on Saturday.

Nicolet saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Wirth, who went 1-for-3 with one double. That double marked the first that Wirth hit this season.

Meanwhile, West Bend West didn't have quite enough to beat Oshkosh West on Friday and fell 10-9. The loss put an end to the Spartans' undefeated start to the season.

Ryan Rose made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Quinlin Ehlke, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Nicolet's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for West Bend West, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 1-1-1.

Nicolet skirted past West Bend West 3-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
