Baseball Recap: Poland Seminary's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Wednesday

Poland Seminary dropped their record down to 11-2 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Girard Indians by a score of 4-3. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Girard, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games.

For Girard's part, Dominick Tolone spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Zach Ward, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Will Hynes was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
