Riverside has gone 8-2 against Mohawk Area recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Riverside took an 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Ellwood City, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Panthers won by a run and slipped past the Wolverine 1-0.
Not much got past Matt Santillo, who gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Ellwood City off the board. Santillo has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Dylan Meyer, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mohawk Area). They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over Laurel on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won six in a row.
Mohawk Area let Vinny Pezzuolo and Bobby Fadden run wild. Pezzuolo went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI, while Fadden got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four runs gave Fadden a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tallan Swanson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Mohawk Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .565. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Riverside's record now sits at 2-3. As for Mohawk Area, their record is now 4-0-1.
Everything went Riverside's way against Mohawk Area in their previous meeting back in June of 2025, as Riverside made off with a 6-0 victory. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
