Baseball Game Preview: Vinton County Vikings vs. Alexander Spartans

The Vinton County Vikings will face off against the Alexander Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Vinton County's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Alexander's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Monday, Vinton County didn't have quite enough to beat Athens and fell 2-1. The Vikings have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Vinton County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Donovan Holcomb, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those stolen bases were Holcomb's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Alexander lost 11-4 to Huntington on Tuesday.

Alexander's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Vinton County, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

Vinton County got the 'W' when the teams last played on April 13th against Alexander by a conclusive 21-6 score. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
