Football Recap: Saint Joseph Skates Past Cypress with Ease

A well-balanced attack led Saint Joseph over Cypress in every quarter on their way to victory on Wednesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Jesters blew the Centurions out of the water with a 32-0 final score. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Jesters' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked third, while the Centurions are ranked 30th).

Lexi Loya had an outrageously good game as she threw for 208 yards and four touchdowns while completing 71.4% of her passes. What's more, she racked up 23 rushing yards, the most she's had since back in October of 2024. Ella Swan got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Saint Joseph didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Sophia Ochoa and Swan. Swan got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Saint Joseph pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their offensive performance: the team's won by an average of 28 points thus far. As for Cypress, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-2.

Looking ahead, Saint Joseph will look to defend their home field on Thursday against St. Anthony at 3:00 p.m. The match will give the Jesters their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Cypress, they will head out on the road to square off against Kennedy at 5:45 p.m. on Monday.
