Softball Recap: Eastlake Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Eastlake ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Parkland Matadors. The victory continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Matadors: they've now won nine in a row.

Eastlake got a great performance from Aydenn Estrada as she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Estrada has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Gabriella Martinez and Samantha Ponce did most of the damage at the plate: Martinez scored a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Ponce scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

Eastlake's record is now 16-5. As for Parkland, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastlake will host Chapin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Eastlake's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Chapin's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Parkland, they will be playing at home against Andress at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Parkland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
