Soccer Game Preview: Jasper vs. Lumberton

Jasper is 0-8 against Lumberton since February of 2021 but things could change on Friday. The Jasper Bulldogs will square off against the Lumberton Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Jasper played in conference for the first time on Friday and they got just the result they we're looking for. They walked away with a 3-1 win over Bridge City. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won five in a row.

Meanwhile, Lumberton waltzed into their game on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Their defense stepped up to hand the Pirates a 5-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won five contests by five goals or more so far this season.

Lumberton's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those three matches. As for Jasper, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Jasper suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Lumberton when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Jasper avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
