Basketball Recap: Peyton York's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Chatham Charter over Triangle Math & Science

With Chatham Charter's effective field goal percentage at 100% and Triangle Math & Science's at 32% on Tuesday, the final result was to be expected on Tuesday. The Chatham Charter Knights took a 41-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Triangle Math & Science Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 38-25 loss back in January.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Peyton York, who posted nine points. York is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 100% in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Skylar Lynn, who made all 5 shots she took for 11 points.

Triangle Math & Science's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noor Rana, who went 5-for-12 on her way to 17 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Rana has scored at least a third of Triangle Math & Science's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zainab Mcelhinney, who put up six points along with 13 boards and five blocks.

Chatham Charter's loss dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Triangle Math & Science, their win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-7.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Chatham Charter will head out on the road to take on Bear Grass Charter at 6:00 p.m. on February 25th. Bear Grass Charter will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Chatham Charter surely won't give up without a fight. As for Triangle Math & Science, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers face off against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on February 25th.
