Basketball Recap: Skyline Grizzlies vs. Blackfoot Broncos
On Thursday, the Skyline Grizzlies faced the Blackfoot Broncos in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Skyline took a 72-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Broncos. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (62), Skyline still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Skyline still got an impressive performance from Shay Shippen, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 17 rebounds. Shippen has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last seven times she's played. Kysa Shippen was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Even though they lost, Skyline were working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blackfoot only posted six assists.
Marlee Pieper continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Blackfoot, scoring 32 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pieper has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Tanner, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Skyline and nudges their season record down to 15-7. As for Blackfoot, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-8.
Skyline does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Blackfoot also has no future games currently scheduled.
