Baseball Game Preview: Dunkirk Marauders vs. Southwestern Trojans

For the second straight game, Dunkirk will face off against Southwestern. The Marauders will head out on the road to square off against the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Dunkirk's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three games.

The home team had won the previous seven meetings between Dunkirk and Southwestern, and Dunkirk kept the tradition alive. The Marauders walked away with a 10-5 win over the Trojans on Tuesday.

Greg Orcutt made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Henry Leone was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Gabe Valentine also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Dunkirk's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Southwestern, they dropped their record down to 3-4 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
