Marion is a perfect 10-0 against Mt. Vernon since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Wildcats will welcome the Rams at 6:30 p.m.

Marion came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 4-0 to Carbondale. One thing that didn't help Marion's chances was the red card they were dealt courtesy of Drake Garrett.

Massac County typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Mt. Vernon proved too difficult a challenge. They had just enough and edged out the Patriots 5-4. The victory was all the more spectacular given Mt. Vernon's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 327th, while Massac County are ranked 116th).

Mt. Vernon has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those four matches. As for Marion, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-9.

Everything went Marion's way against Mt. Vernon in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Marion made off with a 6-0 victory. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
