Basketball Game Preview: Lake Linden-Hubbell Lakes vs. L'Anse Purple Hornets

The Lake Linden-Hubbell Lakes will take on the L'Anse Purple Hornets at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Tuesday, Lake Linden-Hubbell ended up a good deal behind Jeffers and lost 59-40.

Meanwhile, L'Anse fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Dollar Bay on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Bays 69-65. The Purple Hornets have struggled against the Bays recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, L'Anse saw an underclassman step up: freshman Sam Lee went 11 of 26 to rack up 36 points and eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lee has scored all season. Rodrigo Cotta was another key player, going 5 for 11 en route to 11 points and six boards.

L'Anse's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Lake Linden-Hubbell, their loss dropped their record down to 1-16.

Everything came up roses for Lake Linden-Hubbell against L'Anse when the teams last played back in February of 2023, as the squad secured a 72-41 victory. Will Lake Linden-Hubbell repeat their success, or does L'Anse have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
