Baseball Recap: Mark Keppel Triumphs

Mark Keppel hadn't done well against Bell Gardens recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Aztecs had just enough and edged out the Lancers 5-3. This was a revenge game for the Aztecs: when they faced off against the Lancers on March 2nd, they had to take a 3-2 loss.

Mark Keppel gave Wyatt Seligman the start and clearly made the right call: he pitched 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Seligman has become a key player for the Aztecs: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-4-1 otherwise.

At the plate, Aiden Sepulveda was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Mark Keppel is undefeated when Sepulveda posts two or more runs, but 0-5-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Chang, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Mark Keppel and bumps their season record up to 3-5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Bell Gardens, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Mark Keppel will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lancers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
