Basketball Recap: Denton Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Hudson Torres and Ethan Sheats

Denton fought the good fight in their overtime game against Colleyville Heritage on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Colleyville Heritage Panthers by a score of 65-62. The Broncos were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 56-31.

Denton's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ethan Sheats, who posted 19 points, and Hudson Torres, who earned 18 points. The match was Sheats' eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jacory Singh, who put up ten points.

Colleyville Heritage's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cash Gardner led the charge by going 10 of 17 on his way to 28 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Gardner a new career-high in points. D?Mauri Evans was another key player, going 5 for 11 en route to 18 points.

Denton's loss dropped their record down to 15-13. As for Colleyville Heritage, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-13.
