If Quitman was feeling good fresh off their 56-21 takedown of Episcopal last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Quitman Bulldogs were dealt a 42-13 defeat at the hands of the Mayflower Eagles on Friday.

Jamare Lovelace and Jordon Moore-Payne certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Lovelace picked up 108 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Moore-Payne threw for 212 yards and two touchdowns. Lovelace didn't just play on offense: he also forced a fumble and made five total tackles.

Quitman wouldn't let Mayflower keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Quitman can thank Bryson Thacker and Lovelace for forcing both of them. Thacker is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made eight or more in the last five games he's played dating back to last season.

Quitman now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Mayflower, the win for them keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Quitman will head out to face off against Atkins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Atkins knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Quitman likes a good challenge. As for Mayflower, they are taking a road trip to challenge Episcopal at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for Episcopal: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Mayflower has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
