Baseball Recap: Cliffside Park Takes a Loss

Cliffside Park was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 11-7 to the Bergenfield Bears. The Raiders were not able to make up for their loss to the Bears from their previous meeting back in May of 2021.

Nicolas Ortiz was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kayden Moeller, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Cliffside Park's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Bergenfield, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Coming up, Cliffside Park will square off against Leonia at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The last three games the Lions have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Bergenfield, they will welcome Dwight-Englewood at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Bears surely won't give up without a fight.
