Baseball Recap: Stratford Picks Up 12th Straight Win at Home

Stratford had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They blew past the Sumter Gamecocks 11-1. Considering the Knights have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Stratford got a great performance from Jacob Deacon as he struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). Deacon has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jameson Lee and JQ Crosby did most of the damage at the plate: Lee got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Crosby went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run. That's the most hits Crosby has posted since back in March. Dom Longello was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Stratford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .348 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Stratford pushed their record up to 20-4-2 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Sumter, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-14.

As of now, neither Stratford nor the Gamecocks have any future games scheduled.
