Recap: Dayton Dust Devils vs. Spring Creek Spartans

The Dayton Dust Devils lost against the Spring Creek Spartans back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The match between the two teams wasn't particularly close, with Dayton falling 41-26. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Spring Creek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ryan Youngblood led the charge by scoring 16 points along with nine steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Youngblood has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brianna Dimick, who scored six points along with 14 rebounds and three steals.

Dayton's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Spring Creek, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-8.

Dayton will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Lowry at 6:00 p.m. Lowry presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Dayton in Nevada (Lowry is ranked eighth, while Dayton is ranked 54th). Spring Creek won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Fernley at 1:00 p.m. on January 13th. Fernley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Spring Creek likes a good challenge.
