Baseball Recap: Berne-Knox-Westerlo Victorious

Berne-Knox-Westerlo took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Galway, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bulldogs won by a run and slipped past the Golden Eagles 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since April 15th.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Justin Stevens, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. The Bulldogs are undefeated when Stevens posts two or more runs, but 3-9-1 otherwise.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-9-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Galway, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Berne-Knox-Westerlo is set to face off against their familiar foe Duanesburg at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Galway will challenge rival Canajoharie at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
