Decatur Central was forced to take a big loss against they on Thursday, they got the better of them on Friday. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Martinsville Artesians. This was a revenge game for the Hawks: when they faced off against the Artesians on Thursday, they had to take a 26-8 defeat.

Reese Chapman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Mak Wilkerson and Ashyr Lawson did most of the damage at the plate: Wilkerson went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Lawson went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Decatur Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Martinsville only posted a batting average of .269.

Decatur Central's record is now 9-11. As for Martinsville, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-15.

Coming up, Decatur Central will challenge Franklin Community at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Martinsville, they will square off against Perry Meridian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Artesians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
