Football Recap: Goode STEM Academy Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Goode STEM Academy can now relate to. They were dealt a 56-8 defeat at the hands of the Simeon Wolverines on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 62 points in the game before, the Knights couldn't push the score so high this time.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed six in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Quaylen Dobbs, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

James Bell had a dynamite game For Simeon., rushing for 175 yards and three scores on only eight carries. Those 175 rushing yards gave Bell a new career-high. Cornell Conely was another key player, picking up 117 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Goode STEM Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-3 record this season. As for Simeon, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Goode STEM Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Simeon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Normal West at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Wolverines will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least 31 points in their last five contests.
