Steele gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Madison Mavericks. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Knights have posted against the Mavericks since August 17, 2018.

Steele had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 23-25, 25-17, 25-19, 16-14.

Looking ahead, Steele will venture away from home to challenge Alamo Heights at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Madison, they will challenge Medina Valley at 9:00 a.m. on Friday.
