Volleyball Recap: Galena Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Billings, Galena was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Purdy Eagles by a score of 3-1. The Bears have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Eagles, too.

Galena had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-18.

Mel Rice paced Galena's offense, picking up 22 kills. Rice got some help from Ava Watson and her 16 assists. Rice was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

The win snapped Galena's losing streak at three matches and leaves them with a 16-11-3 record. As for Purdy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Galena will host Blue Eye at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Purdy, they are taking a road trip to challenge Southwest at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
