Baseball Game Preview: Zion-Benton Zee-Bees vs. Warren Township Blue Devils

Zion-Benton hasn't had much luck against Warren Township recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Zee-Bees will venture away from home to take on the Blue Devils at 4:45 p.m. Zion-Benton has given up an average of 7.1 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Zion-Benton came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 11-4 to Highland Park.

Zion-Benton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carl Harmon III, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double. That double was Harmon III's first of the season. Adrian Gonzalez was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Warren Township came tearing into Saturday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Wolves a 10-0 shutout. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Warren Township's victory was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Zion-Benton, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.

Zion-Benton suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Warren Township when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Zee-Bees avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
