Basketball Game Preview: Schenck Wolverines vs. Penobscot Valley Howlers

Schenck hasn't had much luck against Penobscot Valley recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Schenck Wolverines are taking a road trip to face off against the Penobscot Valley Howlers at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, Schenck was able to grind out a solid win over Stearns, taking the game 48-40.

Meanwhile, Penobscot Valley put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Woodland, posting an 86-17 victory. Given the Howlers' advantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while the Dragons are ranked 100th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Penobscot Valley pushed their record up to 15-0 with the win, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.3 points per game. As for Schenck, their victory bumped their record up to 12-5.

Schenck was taken down by Penobscot Valley 77-13 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can Schenck avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
