Softball Recap: Kennedy Triumphs

Kennedy came out on top against Kenwood on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Crusaders walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Broncos. The win continues a trend for the Crusaders in their matchups with the Broncos: they've now won three in a row.

Emma Jimenez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Alessandra Medellin was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Shanelle McBride was another key player, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Kennedy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Kennedy's record is now 9-5. As for Kenwood, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Coming up, Kennedy will welcome Lindblom at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.3 runs per game on average), something the Crusaders will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Kenwood, they will square off against Brooks at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
