Softball Game Preview: Scappoose Indians vs. Astoria Fishermen

For the second straight game, Scappoose will face off against Astoria. The Indians will take on the Fishermen at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Scappoose 2.8, Astoria 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Scappoose is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Oregon's top teams: Astoria, who was ranked 13th at the time (Scappoose was ranked 17th). The Indians fell just short of the Fishermen by a score of 5-4 on Tuesday. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Astoria's part, Kya Lindell was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Aryana Adams, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Astoria kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive matches.

Astoria's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.5 runs. As for Scappoose, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-5.

Both Scappoose and Astoria just can't seem to miss. The Indians have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Astoria struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.6 hits.
