Basketball Recap: Cumberland Valley Eagles vs. Central Dauphin Rams
Cumberland Valley and Central Dauphin squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Cumberland Valley had to settle for second. They fell to the Central Dauphin Rams 78-74. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (61), the Eagles still had to take the loss.

Cumberland Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Creston Austin, who went 9-for-13 to rack up 23 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. The game was Austin's third in a row with at least 20 points. Nolan Buzalka was another key player, going 9-for-13 on his way to 20 points in addition to seven boards and five assists.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Central Dauphin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Wayne Fletcher II, who went 11-for-21 en route to 26 points along with four steals and four blocks. That's the most blocks Fletcher II has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jelani Easter, who went 7-for-17 to rack up 18 points in addition to five assists and three steals.
Cumberland Valley's loss dropped their record down to 22-4. As for Central Dauphin, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-4.
Cumberland Valley and Central Dauphin should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. Cumberland Valley will square off against Mechanicsburg at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday up 52 places (6 vs. 58). Cumberland Valley will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak. Similarly, Central Dauphin (ranked 15th) will meet Governor Mifflin (ranked 84th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cumberland Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.2 points per game this season.
