Basketball Recap: Justien Tido's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Riverside over Mcloughlin

Riverside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 31-25 heartbreaker at the hands of the McLoughlin Pioneers. The Pirates were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pioneers earlier this season, when they won 50-17.

Riverside lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Justien Tido, who posted eight points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Tido is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rocio Garay, who put up seven points.

Even though they lost, Riverside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matchups.

Riverside's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for McLoughlin, they moved to 2-16 with that win, which also ended their 13-game losing streak.

When Riverside and McLoughlin next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Riverside will square off against Vale and their 14-game winning streak at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, McLoughlin will try to stop Burns' five-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
