For the first time this season, Loving will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to square off against the Eunice Cardinals at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Loving put up the most points they have all season on Saturday. They came out on top against Non Varsity Opponent by a score of 16-11. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.
Exodus Fierro was a standout: he scored a run while going 2-for-4. Jayce Munoz was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.
Loving was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Eunice had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They put the hurt on the Buffaloes with a sharp 18-11 victory. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Luis Zamora made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Fernando Serna, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Tysen Jones also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Eunice picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 6-2. As for Loving, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Loving beat Eunice 7-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Cardinals have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
