Volleyball Recap: Covenant Christian Eagles vs. Jefferson Davis Academy Raiders
Covenant Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the Jefferson Davis Academy Raiders. The Eagles were not able to make up for their loss to the Raiders from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.
While Covenant Christian was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Jefferson Davis Academy's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-8, 25-11, 25-14.
RILEIGH YORK had an outrageously good game for Jefferson Davis Academy as she had 17 aces, five kills, and three digs. Those 17 aces gave YORK a new career-high. ABBY DEERING was another key player, getting 19 assists and six aces.
Covenant Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Jefferson Davis Academy, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Covenant Christian will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Mead Hall Episcopal School at 6:00 p.m. on October 2. As for Jefferson Davis Academy, they will square off against Holly Hill Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
