Preview: StoneBridge Cavaliers vs. Denbigh Baptist Christian Minutemen

StoneBridge is 9-1 against Denbigh Baptist Christian since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the StoneBridge Cavaliers will get right back to it and host the Denbigh Baptist Christian Minutemen at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Thursday, StoneBridge didn't have too much trouble with Gateway Christian at home as they won 45-29. 45 seems to be a good number for StoneBridge as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

StoneBridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Douglas Marshall led the charge by scoring eight points along with seven steals and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Thompson, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Denbigh Baptist Christian scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 71-47 margin over Yeshivas Aish Kodesh Talmudical Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Denbigh Baptist Christian has posted yet this season.

Denbigh Baptist Christian found their leader in underclassman Cristian Wright, who scored 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wright has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ethan Claville, who scored 13 points.

StoneBridge's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-7. As for Denbigh Baptist Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's game: StoneBridge have been dynamite from deep this season, having only made 34.2% of their threes per game. It's a different story for Denbigh Baptist Christian, though, as they've only made 2.57% of their threes per game this season. Given StoneBridge's sizeable advantage in that area, Denbigh Baptist Christian will need to find a way to close that gap.

StoneBridge didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Denbigh Baptist Christian in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 41-35 win. Does StoneBridge have another victory up their sleeve, or will Denbigh Baptist Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
