Baseball Recap: Katella Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Katella had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 19-6 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Segerstrom Jaguars a 3-0 shutout. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 8-2 win back in March.

The result came thanks to Danny Viera's shutout, as he gave up just two hits.

At the plate, Katella's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Ureno, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Segerstrom, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-18. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games.

On Segerstrom's side, they got a good showing from Adrian Landeros, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Landeros has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

Coming up, Katella will challenge Anaheim at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Segerstrom does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
